In Widdersdorf, turn off the main road into the street “Zum Dammfelde” and then continue to Buchenweg. Line 149 stop “Zum Dammfelde”.

Introduction/specifics

The Zum Felde kindergarten is located in Widdersdorf, a district in the west of Cologne. Our focus is on education for sustainable development. We have a scientific focus and the kindergarten is energy self-sufficient.

Rooms

The kindergarten has two floors. The rooms for the U3 children and the kitchen, where fresh food is cooked, are located on the lower floor. There is a bistro for catering, a sanitary and changing room, bedrooms and a large play corridor. There are functional rooms for the various learning areas such as role play, atelier, construction room, movement room and media. The area for the older children is on the upper floor. The room layout of the functional rooms is similar to the lower floor, adapted to the needs of the Ü3 children. The multi-purpose hall is also located here.

Outdoor Facilities

There is an outdoor area with a variety of activities for climbing, running, balancing and playing in the sand.

Daily Schedule

The day starts at 7:00 a.m. in the bistro, where we also offer a breakfast buffet for all children. 
From here, the children can move on to free play.
At 9 a.m., we interrupt this with an open morning circle lasting around 10 minutes with songs and other activities.
Activities, project work or excursions mainly take place at this time.
Our lunch for the U3 area starts at 11:15 a.m., followed by a rest or sleep phase. Of course, children can retire to rest and sleep at any time if necessary.
In the Ü3 area, lunch starts at 11:30 am. A rest and sleep period is provided from 12 noon to 2 pm. Alternatively, the children can return to free play (indoors and/or outdoors) after lunch, which is interrupted by a snack from 14:15.

Food

We offer full-time catering in the form of a breakfast buffet, lunch and a snack in the afternoon. Lunch is freshly prepared in the kindergarten and is based on the food pyramid.
