Every child is an active participant in their own development. They bring their own strengths, interests, and skills with them, and it is our job to see each child in this way and support them in their development. To this end, we create an environment in which each child can flourish individually and within their social group. We take a differentiated view of each child, observe their interests, and create opportunities for skill development and exploration by designing the environment and integrating everyday stimuli and activities. To help children gain a sense of self-efficacy, they are actively involved in shaping their daily routine and their own educational documentation (portfolio). Throughout our daycare routine, we treat the children with respect and take what they do, show us, or tell us seriously. We are convinced that our mindful approach to each individual child also has an impact on how the children interact with each other and thus serves as a role model.
All rooms are accessible at ground level, and three of the group rooms offer an unobstructed view of a nature reserve behind our garden. We have a total usable area of 650 square meters at our disposal. This is divided into a total of three group rooms, three quiet rooms, three function rooms (construction room, role-play room, and studio), an exercise room, two diapering areas, as well as toilets, a kitchen, a washroom, a staff cloakroom, a management office, and a staff room.
Our outdoor area is located on the edge of a nature reserve. It covers an area of approximately 450 square meters and can be accessed directly from the three group rooms. Here, further opportunities for play and learning are offered. We have a nest swing, a large climbing frame with a slide for children aged three and above, and a small playhouse with a slide for children under three. There is a sand play area and a natural motor skills landscape. In addition, at the rear of the daycare center is our daycare garden, which we cultivate, nurture, and maintain together with the Acker e.V. project.

Our educational work is based on the North Rhine-Westphalia Child Education Act (KiBiz) and the North Rhine-Westphalia Education Agreement with its principles, which are binding for all daycare facilities in North Rhine-Westphalia. The aim of our educational work is to enable children to expand and develop their individual abilities. The educational staff at our daycare facility take this into account and provide individual encouragement.
Qualified staff with a wide range of expertise provide individual support for the children in a responsible, motivated, and innovative manner.
Ensuring and further developing the quality of our educational work is a central concern for our team. We strive to establish quality management processes and procedures in our work. This enables us to ensure and further develop the quality standard of our educational work. To this end, we engage in professional exchange among colleagues in team and small team meetings. There, we reflect together on processes, rituals, and procedures.
With the consent of the legal guardians, we are happy to cooperate with various external contacts, such as early intervention centers, speech therapists, or doctors.
Our families come from all over Cologne and the surrounding area. The children therefore attend many different elementary schools. For this reason, we do not have a fixed partnership with any particular school.
The daycare center is not only a place for children, but also for families. A trusting educational partnership with families is important to us. That is why we strive to maintain close communication. We hold regular development meetings with parents and guardians to discuss the children's development, and we are also available on a daily basis to address any concerns families may have. We attach great importance to treating all families (regardless of family model, origin, or religion) with respect and interest.
The conceptual focus is on participation, exercise, and nature.
