Current information

Unsere Warteliste für das Kitajahr 2023/2024 ist bereits voll. Wir können keine weiteren Familien für diesen Zeitraum aufnehmen.

Introduction/specifics

The Ströppcher is a place where children not only play and explore, but also experience family-like community. We care for eleven children aged one to three years in the time frame of 35 hours per week. All are welcome! We make a point of reflecting the diversity of Mülheim and Germany and encourage people in all walks of life to enroll their children with us. Reductions of the fee are possible. Please contact us!

We approach each child with appreciation and respect and want to actively relate to them. A joint exploration of the environment and the acquisition of social and communicative skills are the basis of our work. The solidary and close cooperation with the parents distinguishes us as a day care center (Kita). In accordance with this self-image, the Müllemer Ströppcher are members of the German Parity Welfare Association (DPWV) and the Cologne Parents and Children Self-Help Association (KEKS).

Our opening hours are as follows:

- Monday to Thursday: 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

- Friday: 8:30 am to 2:30 pm

Please note that we only accept children between the ages of one and two. In the course of the third year of life the children change to the kindergarten.

Please fill out the contact form that we will send you after you have registered through LittleBird so that we can learn more about you.

Rooms

A suitable and prepared environment supports the children in the development of their abilities and is the basis of free play and movement development. The prepared environment should offer the children security and challenge and allow them to explore on their own initiative.

For this, the children need:

- Opportunities for large-scale movement,
- Opportunities to play with everyday and natural materials,
- Opportunities to try out different materials for experimenting, building, crafting,
- opportunities for relaxation and intensive sensory experiences.

The children find these possibilities in our different rooms.

- Sleep and movement room
- Hallway
- Large group room
- Children's bathroom

Outdoor Facilities

Having a small garden in the middle of Mülheim is a great fortune. Here the children can play in the sandbox. Some vehicles are available, as well as a bench with a table for a little picnic.

When we feel like more exercise, we take our daycare bus to the nearby playgrounds, go for a walk along the Rhine, a trip to the library or the forest.

Food

Mondays through Fridays there is an open breakfast buffet where the children can help themselves and choose something. Fruit and raw vegetables are always included.
At lunchtime, our cook prepares fresh and delicious meals for us, if possible regional and organic; on Wednesdays we have meat and on Thursdays fish.
Once a week, our cook also offers a joint baking activity.
In the afternoon we offer fruit as a snack.

Quality Assurance

Teamwork with parents

The non-profit association De Müllemer Ströppcher e. V. runs the daycare center. The facility is a member of the Deutscher Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband (DPWV) and the Kölner Eltern- und Kinderselbsthilfe e. V. (KEKS).

It is responsible and accountable for all organizational and content-related matters of the facility, which are essentially implemented by the board of directors. The board consists of three parents and is elected by the general meeting of the association.

All parents support the operation of the day care center through parent work. This includes fixed services such as gardening, small repairs, support in the IT area, as well as certain activities that must be performed when staff are unavailable, for example cleaning and cooking services.

Twice a year, a joint action day is held for the renovation and renewal of the kindergarten rooms and the outdoor area. This gives parents the chance to experience the daycare center and actively help shape it for their child.
