Current information

Introduction/specifics

Our Catholic daycare centre is located in the Marienburg district and cares for 40 children aged 2 to 6. The daycare centre is situated in a quiet location at the end of a cul-de-sac, right next to St. Mary Queen Parish Church and Südpark. Surrounded by greenery and mature trees, it offers children a safe, natural environment in which to play, explore and feel at home.

Rooms

Our nursery has spacious premises. In addition to an exercise room, a multi-purpose room and a bedroom for children under three, there are two bright group rooms, each with an adjoining side room. The corridors are also used as additional play areas and are designed to meet the needs of the children, providing them with a wide range of opportunities for exercise and play.

Outdoor Facilities

Our spacious outdoor area invites children to explore and be active. In addition to a large play and climbing ship with a slide, there is a tree house, two swings, a horizontal bar, a large sandpit and a water playground. A garden shed completes the area and offers additional space for creative play ideas, activities and inspiration.

Daily Schedule

A structured daily routine provides children with guidance and security. After drop-off time, which ends at 9:00 a.m., we start the day together in a morning circle. This is followed by free play or activity time, during which topics and projects are worked on with the children. From 11:00 a.m., the groups play together in the outdoor area before having lunch together at 12:15 p.m. From 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., the children have a rest period, followed by a small snack. The afternoon offers more time for free play or guided activities, both indoors and outdoors.

Food

Lunch is prepared by a caterer, refrigerated the day before and delivered vacuum-packed for the following day. Our kitchen staff reheats the meals on site and takes care of the washing up afterwards. This enables us to offer the children balanced and child-friendly meals.

Basics

At our nursery, the focus is on the child. We support each child holistically in their emotional, social, motor, linguistic and cognitive development. Free play is our most important form of learning. Children discover their environment, gather experiences and learn through play. We accompany each child individually and value their uniqueness. Social interaction, tolerance, consideration and independence characterise our everyday life. Language and communication are consciously promoted through storytelling, singing, playing and reading aloud. Trusting cooperation with parents is a matter of course for us. Through observation and documentation, we make learning and development processes visible. We teach values such as respect, responsibility and openness and create a place where children feel safe, can learn and grow.

Employee

In addition to management, we exclusively employ specialists who have completed social pedagogy training as educators or have a degree in education. At the same time, we are a training centre for prospective educators, childcare workers and dual students. The team is complemented by a daily assistant, a kitchen assistant and volunteers completing a voluntary social year (FSJ) or federal voluntary service (BFD).

Qualification

Our employees regularly participate in further training courses to keep up to date with the latest educational developments.

Additional Offerings

Throughout the year, our nursery organises various additional activities that enrich the children's everyday lives. These include circus projects, children's theatre plays, road safety education and, for our future schoolchildren, a self-assertion course. When planning these activities, we focus on the children's needs, current capacity and financial possibilities. We are also supported by a dedicated support association, which enables us to offer additional activities.

Quality Assurance

We ensure the quality of our educational work through binding standards, regular reflection and further development. Our actions are based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the legal provisions of the Social Code (Sections 8, 45 SGB VIII and Section 37a SGB IX). In addition, we are guided by the Child Education Act (KiBiz), the framework regulations of the German Bishops' Conference and the prevention regulations of the Archdiocese of Cologne with the associated implementing provisions. Child protection is our top priority. We have a comprehensive protection concept, educational and inclusive educational concepts to ensure qualified educational work. Twice a year, we hold concept days where we reflect on our educational concept and adapt it to current conditions and the needs of the children. In addition, all necessary instruction, guidance and training of employees is carried out regularly to ensure high quality standards.

Cooperations

We work closely with our neighbouring nursery in Zollstock and are certified as a Catholic family centre and a family centre of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. We offer joint celebrations, events and consultations. We also cooperate with various institutions such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, schools, counselling centres and retirement homes.

Teamwork with school

Cooperation with schools There is lively communication with nearby primary schools to ensure a seamless transition to primary school.

Teamwork with parents

Open and appreciative communication forms the basis of our cooperation with parents. We maintain a transparent attitude and treat families with trust, respect and interest. Our common goal is the well-being of the child. In regular development meetings, we discuss the progress, needs and strengths of the children. At the beginning of each nursery year, a parents' council is elected, with whom we meet at regular intervals to discuss important issues and strengthen cooperation between parents and the nursery.

Specifics

The immediate proximity to Südpark allows the children to actively experience nature and take advantage of a wide range of outdoor activities and experiences. Large group windows give the children an open view of nature, allowing them to observe, understand and appreciate changes in the environment. Our focus follows the seasonal cycle of the Catholic faith. We celebrate key festivals such as Easter, St. Martin's Day, St. Nicholas' Day and Christmas. We take the children to church and organise worship services together. We also work closely with the parish, the parish representative and the church musician.

Projects

We work on a project basis. This means that our approach is child-centred, exploratory and learner-centred. Children actively help to shape a topic over a longer period of time, learning holistically, practically and at their own pace.

Parental Interviews

We regularly conduct parent surveys to find out what is important to families at our facility and what their wishes and expectations are for the future.
