Basics

We fundamentally work according to the situation-oriented approach and the "best practice principle," which incorporates elements of Reggio, Montessori, Pikler, and Waldorf pedagogy. A positive atmosphere and charisma, as well as the development of empathetic bonds with each child, are important to us. This complements and supports the child's upbringing in the family and is intended to promote the child's overall development through general and targeted educational support and opportunities. Our mission is, in particular, to stimulate the child's intellectual and physical development through differentiated educational work, to foster their social skills, and to provide all children with equal development opportunities. The child is given the opportunity to practice social behavior, to understand themselves as a person in relation to others, to engage in dialogue, to resolve conflicts, to acquire knowledge, and to do things together.

Employee

All staff members at our facilities are trained professionals with various qualifications: educators, special education teachers, certified teachers, special education nurses, child care workers, and Bachelor of Arts (social work). The attitude of our educational staff toward all children is characterized by love and respect, taking into account their individual developmental stage. Together with the families, we ensure the well-being of the children and build on a foundation of mutual trust

Quality Assurance

Our specialist consultants are continuously working on our quality management.

Cooperations

Our daycare centers are an active part of the social infrastructure of each neighborhood. Through cooperation with the city's specialist services, other institutions, and initiatives, families experience holistic support in raising their children.

Teamwork with parents

We consciously see ourselves as a family-supporting institution, considering the family as the most important educational setting. We support and complement the parenting work of parents. We offer a variety of forms of collaboration with parents, including parent-teacher meetings and themed parent evenings, as well as joint celebrations and work assignments.

Specifics

We have set ourselves the goal of identifying children's diverse developmental potential at an early stage in our Stepke daycare centers and supporting them accordingly, individually and according to their developmental stage and their own pace. This is achieved through shared responsibility for the education, upbringing, and care of children with and without disabilities or special needs. We apply the principle of integrated support from a single source and support strategies integrated into everyday life, ensuring appropriate conditions. This is achieved through reduced childcare spaces combined with qualified and interdisciplinary specialist staff. We work together with early intervention centers, speech therapists, nursing services, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists. We enjoy tackling these challenges every day together with our educational professionals. Inclusion is a given for us.

Projects

Regular forest days and forest weeks in the nearby forest botanical garden or on the banks of the Rhine provide nature-based learning experiences.

A large part of the educational work at the Zitronenfalter daycare center is project work in groups. We don't keep children in our facilities; instead, after careful observation over an extended period of time, we offer topics and materials that the children can work on in groups. The goal is to engage with children's interests and support them further.

A special quality feature is the appropriately designed preparation of rooms and materials. Worth mentioning are our preschool work, forest and meadow weeks, water familiarization, and bilingual projects.

Parental Interviews

A parent survey takes place once a year in all Stepke daycare centers.
